Description
Peppermint is a cross between spearmint and watermint and referred to as a hybrid that has escaped cultivation. Like other mints, the plant spreads prolifically on ground "runners" and its leaves possess the characteristic minty aroma and flavor die to the presence of menthol.

Dried peppermint leaf is one of the most popular herbs used for tea because it blends so well with most other herbs. The leaf of this plant contains a volatile oil that consists of up to 70% menthol and menthol esters. In addition to providing mint flavor to natural dental products, cough syrups and throat lozenges, peppermint extracts and tinctures lend that "icy hot" quality to a number of topical products
